Who we are
Cowry Halls Publishing is a spiritually led publishing house devoted to the preservation and transmission of Afro-Latin spiritual traditions. Founded by practitioners, teachers, and community leaders, our work is rooted in the belief that writing is an act of legacy. We create books to safeguard history, honor lineage, and ensure that living traditions are shared with care, accuracy, and respect.
We offer a home for traditional writers and creators whose work reflects lived spiritual experience, cultural responsibility, and service to community. Each book we produce is selected with intention and crafted to speak directly to the people it is meant to serve. Our publications are designed to be useful, familiar, and sacred, supporting both study and practice.
Cowry Halls Publishing also serves authors at every stage of the process, providing professional guidance from initial concept through manuscript development and publication. We work closely with writers to ensure their voices remain intact while their work reaches its highest standard. Through publishing, education, and community engagement, Cowry Halls Publishing exists to strengthen spiritual communities and preserve the knowledge that sustains them.
David Sosa
David Sosa was born in New York City and raised on Long Island in a household shaped by the strict structure of Jehovah’s Witness life. From an early age, he sensed that the world of spirit held more depth, texture, and harmony than what he had been given. Where others accepted a single note, David listened for the full symphony.
His spiritual path unfolded through lived experience rather than abstraction. He explored several systems, including Wicca, before finding his spiritual foundation in Espiritismo. He was introduced to the tradition through the mother of a close friend, an encounter that redirected his life and established a long-term path of study, service, and practice. Over time, his work expanded into Santería, where his development deepened through lineage-based training and sustained commitment.
David’s work is centered on community and responsibility. He approaches spiritual practice as something that must support mental health, self-respect, and meaningful connection with others. These are not secondary concerns, but essential supports for serious spiritual work. Through teaching, publishing, and community projects, David continues to build spaces where tradition is upheld, people are strengthened, and spiritual practice is integrated into everyday life.
Andres Chulisi Rodriguez
Andres Chulisi Rodriguez was raised in the Bronx, New York, by a deeply spiritual mother whose devotion shaped his early understanding of faith and protection. From childhood, he experienced spirit as present and active, forming a sensitivity that would guide his life’s work.
His first public calling came through performance. As an actor and comedian, Andres learned how to hold space, read people, and build connection. These skills later became central to his spiritual leadership, allowing him to teach, guide, and gather community with clarity and purpose.
Andres serves as Mother Espiritu, guiding others in disciplined ancestral work and structured spiritual development. His practice is firmly based in devotion, faith, and regimen, principles he applies consistently in both teaching and service. A devoted godfather and guide, Andres supports not only his spiritual children but the wider community, building strong bonds through creativity, care, and commitment.
